VOLVO
Volvo is a Swedish luxury vehicle manufacturer established in 1927 and headquartered in Gothenburg. The trademark Volvo (which is Latin for I roll) was first registered by SKF Bearings in May 1915 with the intention of using it for a special series of ball bearing for the American market but it was never used for this purpose.
The first Volvo car left the assembly line in April 1927, and was called Volvo ÖV 4. Later the company would manufacture several hardtops and cabriolet vehicles designed to withstand the Swedish climate and terrain. This has led to their historic reputation for safety and reliability. Laminated glass and the three-point safety belt are some of Volvo’s famous contributions to the motoring industry.
