JAGUAR
Jaguar Car is a British luxury car manufacturer. The company has a history of producing cars with eye catching styling coupled with sports-car performance. It has a stellar record of creating a series of models considered to be classics and trend setting.
The company, founded in 1922 by Bill Lyons and William Walmsley, was initially known as the Swallow Sidecar Company – since it started its life as a manufacturer of aluminum motorcycle sidecars. The sidecars proved to be popular which prompted Lyons to turn his attention to cars. He originally started by offering stylish bodies on popular chassis. The first and best known of these was the Austin 7 Swallow.
In 1933 Swallow changed its focus to automobiles and changed its name to SS Cars. In 1935 it launched the first vehicle to carry the Jaguar name – the SS Jaguar 100. After World War II for obvious reasons the company dropped SS and thus began Jaguar, the firm that we all know so well..
